“How We Grew from the Canal Welcome Center to the Multicultural Center of Marin”
The Canal Welcome Center was founded (by Douglas) in 2002 but officially became a 501c nonprofit organization in 2005. The Canal Welcome Center transformed into the Multicultural Center of Marin in 2018.
Douglas has been recipient of awards such as the 2004 Martin Luther King Humanitarian Award from the Marin County Human Rights Commission, the 2008 Grassroots Organizer Award from the Social Justice Center of Marin, and the 2011 Spirit of Marin Award. His work has also been recognized by local, state and federal officials. Douglas Mundo obtained his degree in Public Administration with emphasis on nonprofit organizations at USF and more recently, completed a program on Juvenile Justice Reform at Georgetown University.
