The filing period to run for office on the November 5, 2024 General Election ballot is July 15 -- August 9 in California. If an incumbent decides not to run, filing remains open until Aug. 15.
Candidates including incumbents must file all required and optional documents, or withdraw as a candidate.
Note: Candidates for municipal offices must pick up and file nomination documents at their City/Town Clerk’s office (Some cities charge a filing fee)
