California’s redistricting process is a once-in-a-decade opportunity to help ensure that Latinos and all Californians can elect public servants who are accountable and responsive to their communities. California’s Citizens Redistricting Commission will draw Congressional and state redistricting lines that will shape our democracy for the next decade. It is critical that Latinos have a strong voice in this process.

Officials in the Government entities listed are elected by district and will go through the redistricting process in 2021. Newly defined district constituencies will vote first in 2022.

Redistricting Scope/resources

Once every 10 years following the federal census, in a process known as redistricting, the State adjusts the boundary lines of districts for the California Senate, Assembly, Board of Equalization districts, and Congressional districts for the U.S. House of Representatives.
