In commemoration of the 19th Amendment’s 100th Anniversary granting American women the right to vote, Airbnb Women@ and the League of Women Voters will offer an honest look at the history and future of American women’s fight for equality. Historians will set the context of the early history of the Suffrage Movement from various perspectives that led to the amendment’s ratification on August 26, 1920 including the complicated rifts and allyship between the abolitionists and suffragists. Then, we’ll dive into the more recent history, the Black Lives Matter movement modern voter suppression, and what it will take to continue to fight for true equality.

The program will conclude with some resources and ideas for 2020 and beyond.
