Board of Supervisors Agenda Preview for February 28

Here are the top policy items on Supervisors’ agenda for February 28, 2023. The meeting is to begin at 9 a.m.

Golden Gate Village Empowerment Fund

The Board will consider establishing the new fund with the nonprofit Marin Community Foundation (MCF) to expand economic opportunities for those living in the 296-unit affordable housing neighborhood in Marin City. The Board will consider transferring $2 million as an initial balance, and MCF plans to consider making its own grant contribution. The goal is a unified approach to enhance services for low-income residents of the village, where there is a longstanding need for investments to support new economic opportunities. (Staff report)

Homekey Property in Canal Area

In November 2022, the Board approved the purchase of a building at 3301 Kerner Boulevard in the Canal area of San Rafael to help alleviate homelessness as part of the state’s Project Homekey efforts. The Board will consider authorization of a 20-year agreement with a nonprofit agency to renovate, operate, and manage a 40-unit permanent supportive housing project. (Staff report)
