This presentation is hosted by the Justice Committee of the League of Women Voters of Marin County.

Representatives from the Drop LWOP Coalition will share a presentation on their work to end life without parole sentencing in California. The Coalition's goal is to afford relief to those currently serving this sentence, no matter the conviction, through legislative change, commutations, pardons, resentencing, and public awareness about the injustice of the LWOP sentence. Their belief is all human beings are capable of change and that LWOP is a living death sentence that is extreme and wrong.

The presentation will share facts and statistics about who receives this sentence, answer any questions you may have and offer suggestions for how communities can support legislation currently being considered in California that would begin to reduce the number of people sentenced this way
